    THE REMARKABLE RHODODENDRON RAMBLE

    Grandfather Mountain’s naturalists lead guided experiences, exploring the cultural history behind the plant, as well as its function in the wild landscape.

    FAMILY FUN MONTH
    Time: Noon to 5:00 p.m. daily
    Location: Town of Beech Mountain
    Admission: Varies by event; some are free

    30 days of organized family activities including guided hikes, mountain biking lessons, tours of the old Land of Oz, movies under the stars, concerts on the lawn, chairlift rides and more. Family lodging specials are available on the website.

    Admission: General Admission/Additional

    Listen to presentations from top nature photographers in the evenings and photograph spectacular scenery and native animals during the day. This event is not included with admission. Register online.

    MUSIC IN THE VALLE
    Time: 7:00 p.m.

    Admission: Free. $5.00 per person donations are recommended.

    The "Music in the Valle" Concert Series at Valle Crucis Community Park continues each Friday evening through September 9th. Bring a chair or a blanket and a picnic.

    NEW RIVER CANOE RACE & FAMILY FLOAT (Fundraiser)
    Location: Zaloo's Canoes and New River State Park-Wagoner Rd Access

    Jefferson, NC 28640
    Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (Gates open at 8:30 a.m.)

    Registration: Online. $10 per person, $5 for children, $25 for family float (up to 6 people) for a single race. Every additional race is $5. Registration includes a FREE T-shirt and entry for a door prize.

    • Bring your own Canoe or Kayak, or Rent one from Zaloo's. Free Shuttles.
    • All proceeds go to support Friends of High Country State Parks’ mission to support our state parks.
    • Music, free food samples, tubing, swimming, and hiking. Racing is not required.
    • Food from local food trucks will be available.
    • The race course if five miles to the Wagoner Road Access of the New River State Park. This route is calm with no white water and just a few riffles along the way to make it fun.
    • Make it a weekend, and book a campsite at Wagoner Access @ New River State Park, http://www.ncparks.gov/new-river-state-park.
    • Family friendly event with options to enter as a “Novice”, “Expert”, or “Championship Category”. The “Special” category is for those with any special needs or elders

    Time: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

    Chrome, Flash, Electric! These are all adjectives that describe the excitement surrounding this show. Preserving the tradition of horse sports in Blowing Rock since 1923. Supporting education and charities. Why miss it?
